We begin to at least itemize the sources of error in order to better understand how accurate these temperature datasets are.
First the spacing between measurements does give one confidence there are not errors due to site distribution, especially on the ocean. The other forms of error that can occur are also listed.
We will look at a few of these. The actual inaccuracy of any one measurement can be much larger than the anomaly reading.
There is also little information provided or studies conducted that we could find.
