Ed Notes:

This diagram conveys a lot better what was expressed in other places.    And Shaviv mentioned in the video of the Milky-way galaxy having arcs of movement of our planetary system and how that can affect heat and cooling periods by how cosmic rays cycle.

The diagram below shows how the solar wind can push the cosmic rays away from hitting earth.  Cosmic rays can ionize the atmosphere and cause the needed nuclearization for the formation of clouds.

The two authors along with Svengard feel that this can explain climate over a time period.

Shaviv & Veizer cosmic rays and climate

There is however separate proof that a casual link exists between cosmic rays and climate, ... The analysis of Shaviv & Veizer ... Nir Shaviv, cosmic rays have ...

Figure 2: The cosmic ray link between solar activity and the terrestrial climate. The changing solar activity is responsible for a varying solar wind strength. A stronger wind will reduce the flux of cosmic ray reaching Earth, since a larger amount of energy is lost as they propagate up the solar wind. The cosmic rays themselves come from outside the solar system (cosmic rays with energies below the "knee" at 1015eV, are most likely accelerated by supernova remnants).

Since cosmic rays dominate the tropospheric ionization, an increased solar activity will translate into a reduced ionization, and empirically (as shown below), also to a reduced low altitude cloud cover. Since low altitude clouds have a net cooling effect (their "whiteness" is more important than their "blanket" effect), increased solar activity implies a warmer climate. Intrinsic cosmic ray flux variations will have a similar effect, one however, which is unrelated to solar activity variations.

We should revisit occasionally what the proper role of government is.   As the constitution was a good sense of direction, we need a core set of principles to add in order to deal with the future.

So many want to engineer society, remove risk, assist certain groups, rather than let individuals thrive and raise communities.  Why?

Is Democracy where we all "get it good and hard" or is it the best means to a free society?

Should we roll with the special interests, or make the government achieve its proper role, what is that role, and how to do this?

When do deficits and governments become too large?

Government is becoming more elitist while trying to sell corrections to problems it created, what makes this possible?
