The Milankovitch cycle is repeatable and tied to solar orbital cycles.    Haiving a 12C swig in temperature is a great deal more than what has happened in modern times.  Sea levels can also vary by +/- 10's of meters, not a few inches per century like the curve we are on now.  CLiamte varies a lot and it behooves us to understand the cycles that drive this variation.
