Once the earth heats up, the energy must be released in one of three forms: evaporation being the dominate one followed by IR radiation and then conduction/convection.
The outgoing spectrum at high altitude presents us with another swiss cheese energy diagram. Water Vapor dominates here as well.
Curves as reference SBP curves, a form of curves that comes from quantum mechanics. The window to the OS is shown is much more than the 6%.
I compute over 30%. With the CO2, O3, and Water vapor taking away some of the energy in reducing the amplitude of the SBP curve as emitted from the earth's surface.
NEXT: Looking deeper into the absorption in the atmosphere, we can gain a better understanding of the radiation component. But do not forget that it is not the dominant energy release mechanism.
